Renaissance Influence On American Culture Essay

The Renaissance had great influence on the development of modern American society, culture, and artistic expression. The Renaissance influence in America brought a new focus on humanism, and as a result turning away from the dominant ideas made by the church. Although religion was still the greatest influence throughout the Renaissance era, the recognition of potential in society and scientific questioning shaped history and is still continuing to influence American culture today. Art and literature, the main principles of realism have remained key in all aspects of American society and still live on and influence the way we view our world today. Although, many aspects of American life and society has changed since the blooming Renaissance era, societal, social, artistic, and historical backgrounds have stayed immersed in the main roots of the era. The Renaissance refers to a time in European history between 1400 and 1600. It bridged the gap between the periods of the Middle Ages and modern history. The Renaissance was a movement which began the ideas of the classical world, it was known as the end of the gothic era and the birth of modern age. The Renaissance was seen to be more of an intellectual and cultural time than just history. The Renaissance considered the Middle Ages to have been a period of cultural decline. They wanted to revitalize their culture through stressing classical texts and philosophies.
