Renaissance. This was an era in which people started restudying the Greek and Roman
works that had been lost since the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 A.D. The very meaning of
the word. "Renaissance," is rebirth. All birth have an origin. The origin of the Renaissance
was in the city-state originally named Florentia by Julius Caesar meaning, "Flourishing."
During the Medieval Ages it's name changed to Florence. This flourishing city-state is so
important because it was the origin of the Renaissance in which the first great architectural
structure was built and it was the cradle of a new idea that promoted personal achievement.

new architectural ideas spread fast throughout Europe due to the beauty that was rising up
in Florence. These structures were the first big step to get people to realize that they had
been missing out on the beauty of individual achievement.
Florence created a city-state that educated people polymath and focused them on
the rebirth of idea's that had been lost during the Medieval Ages. Filippo Brunelleschi
developed a new age of thinking and creation that many of up coming Renaissance Artist
would follow. Society had realized from studying people like Michelangelo, Ghirlandaio,
Botticelli, Brunelleschi, and Leonardo da Vinci that the new focus was on human
achievement and human possibilities. With this focus, now referred to as Humanism, people
of the Renaissance period began to to focus on studying multiple subjects including history.
