Imagine going to school everyday and being judged and discriminated against because of the color of your skin and your cultural differences. This is what occurs in the inspiring film Remember The Titans. This uplifting movie was directed by Boaz Yakin, and stars Denzel Washington; the key actor of the film. The Film’s setting takes place in 1971, in Alexandria, Virginia; when an all African American school and all White school combine to form a new school called T.C. Williams. The main social issues that occur in the film are racism, discrimination, and prejudice. Boone vs Board of Education is also an important related conflict in the film. In the movie the main lesson they portray, is that Remember The Titans teaches us that we can set aside …show more content…
Coach Boone does this by stating, “If we don’t come together...right now, on this hallowed ground...then we, too, will be destroyed, just like they were. I don’t care if you like each other or not, but you will respect each other, and maybe...I don’t know, maybe we’ll...learn to play this game like men.” This explains that Coach Boone was trying to prove to them, that if they don’t get along and respect each other, they will not make it very far.
Although, Remember The Titans was a very inspiring and uplifting, the movie has its flaws. Therefore, the movie can have some criticisms against it. The movie can be unrealistic at some points in the film. For example, when the players randomly break out and start singing with each other. “Listen, baby! Ain’t no mountain high! Ain’t no valley low! Ain’t no river wide enough, baby!” This happens in the locker room, the gym meeting between the players and other various times in the movie. This shows that just doesn’t happen in reality and that is strictly just apart of the script for the
