Everyone expects the team to fail miserably, and that’s if they even make it to the first game. A once loyal community effectually disowns the team members, upset by the segregation and the team members themselves have lost faith in a successful season. Though the city and team members all rallied together as the season wore on, discrimination still proved to be one of the team’s greatest enemies. In an important game against the school’s rivals, referees purposefully made loads of bogus calls against the Titans in an effort to impede their perfect season. Coach Yoast, recognizing that the referees are out of the team’s control, huddles his boys up for an inspirational pep talk. The players, rallied by Coach Yoast, play the rest of the game with such ferocity that despite the referees they come out on top.
