In the movie “Remember The Titans” there were many different themes throughout the movie, the biggest being racism. Racism is discrimination towards people who are a different race, or who have different beliefs. This theme was pointed out in the movie various times, because the movie was about a school that was segregated. “Remember The Titans” was about a football team that had white as well as African Americans on it, which was new to this team and this community, and the team eventually became a family after they learned to put their differences aside. This essay will explain the theme of racism, and give reasons from the movie to support the theme.

The reason the assistant coach was asked to lose the game was because the community wasn’t accepting of the idea that a team with different races could be undefeated. The people who were in control of the sports administration at the school tried to blackmail the assistant coach by saying if he didn’t lose the game he would no longer be eligible to be put into the hall of fame at the school. The assistant coach considered making the team lose, but then he thought it through and came to the conclusion that he should try his best to make the team win even though it might not be helping him.
This essay showed how racism was a major theme throughout the movie “Remember The Titans”.
