“Remember The Titans” questions (Gerry)

1. I feel like what happened to Petey, Sunshine and the others was not the right choice for the person turning them down. Why would it matter who you are with or what you look like/race to get service at a restaurant. I think that everyone should get a fair share at being served at a restaurant, at the end of the day we are still people and have feelings therefore others should respect that. Also Petey had been to the restaurant before so why would they refuse to serve them and even kick them out. I think the reason the person refused was because they were with people different from his skin colour so maybe he felt that they didn't deserve to be there, even though that doesn't give him the right to be so disrespectful I can understand where he's coming from. At first when all the black people joined my school I was very racist towards them and believed that they did not deserve a spot on the team because they were black and had lower power than me, I soon learned that they are equal to us and should be treated the same as everyone else. I still think this was wrong and should not have happened but I can understand where he was coming from.

Though at the start I thought that making Coach Boone head coach was the wrong decision for many reasons including him being black. Now my opinions have changed because the season was great. It was rough at the start we then grew as a team and we did pretty good in the season. Coach Boone pushed us and made us bond as a team and I think that had a big toll on our team because after that our whole team was bonded, except for Ray. Ray had different beliefs than the rest of us and treated the blacks different, so we kicked him off the team so we could do better. Overall I think making Coach Boone head coach was a good

This was the first time to happen in this school. After some of their first games playing for the Minors, they realized how their journey was going to be. They faced unfair, difficult situations such as, getting harassed, thrown out of restaurants and hotels and even getting threatened. Even though the team was good and had a winning streak, it did not stop the violence and hatred towards his players. The fans not only mistreated the black players but they did the white players as well.…

One dining club could change the lives of young students, so why would anyone stop a student’s growth? Although these prestigious clubs are selective in choosing who and who does not get into their clubs the benefits students reek once they are in surpasses the work required to put in to get in. Students are allowed to train in the field they desire and are given opportunities that range from networking with alumni who participated in that particular club to internships, which enhance their resumes. All these factors should be enough to allow Ms. Lisa Radin to be allowed to at least be considered for membership from the CPU Club right? Yes, legally the club does not have to allow her in, but talking beyond the legal argument allowing Radin into the club only benefits the club and the male students involved in the club.…

Just like every Saturday afternoon, my mother and I went to a Friendly’s after recreational baseball games. Unlike getting our normal outgoing, spontaneous, comradely waitress, my mother and I got a rude, crude elderly Caucasian women as our server. That day was the last day I ever stepped foot inside of a Friendly’s restaurant. We received the worst service that you could ever imagine. My mother and I had been treated as if we were second-class citizens and the thought of that experience makes me feel terrible.…

What I was looking forward to doing my senior year, was leading my team as a senior to the best we could be. I was working harder than I ever had all winter long leading up to this. I had one goal that I did not see happen any of my four years there, which was getting to the state championship. There were a lot of things that had to go right for this to happen. The team had to be good, they had to work hard every day, they had to win districts, they had to win regional’s, and the most importantly the team had to get along great they have to be a family.…

My favorite film is Remember the Titans. The film is about a football team and their struggles with integrating an African American high school and a Caucasian high school. Taking place in Virginia in 1971, the film shows the racial tension of the community using techniques to make it cinematic. One of the ways that allows the viewer to understand the tension in the movie is with camera angles.…

If there was one thing I was used to by now, it was that whenever something didn’t go well for me on the baseball field, the future holds green pastures only if I go looking for it. So sure enough, after that loss, I set my eyes ahead to the next season. That final season we had a great start, winning a lot of games, but we ended up barely making the playoff as somewhat of an underdog. We didn’t think about anything that was at stake, we simply played our game all the way to the championship game without a loss in the playoffs. We won the first game of he series and were winning for the majority of the second game.…

Boone exhibited an autocratic, transactional leadership style, ruling by fear and consequences with the players and coach Yoast. Boone set the tone by showing his legitimate authority and control in an attempt to create structure and order, for example, on the buses traveling to pre-season boot camp, Boone forced integration of the players based on offensive and defensive roles rather than race. Additionally, Boone asserted his dominance over coach Yoast at the outset, leaving no doubt who was the head…
