Remember, or Mem for short, the character with autism, is portrayed in the book like someone who has a milder form of autism. There are a few stereotypes thrown around in the book, but overall Mem seems very realistic. I was very nervous about reading this novel because I have grown up with a younger brother who has autism, and I have heard the stereotypes. I did not want to read the book and have all of those stereotypes jump out at the reader. The book explained how some children with autism act in a real-life situation. I do wish that the author had found a way to make it known that not all people with autism are the same, and that some children won't act like this at all, even though they have autism. My view on people with disabilities has not changed much. It did make me feel much better knowing that some of the things my family struggles with, other families struggle with too. My family does not know a lot of other families that have a child with a disability, therefore, we cannot compare our situations to theirs. Overall, this book is a really great book for anyone to read, even if they don't have a
