Remeliah Mims: My Hero

Everyone has someone that they look up to and aspire to be like Monday. This would be the person that they consider their hero as cliché as it may seem my hero happens to be my mom, Remeliah Mims. Although we argue and disagree occasionally I wouldn't trade her for the world. She is one of the most genuine, benign and generous people that I know which is why I consider he my hero.

When I think of a hero I think of someone who is hardworking, kind, caring, and trustworthy. My mom embodies all of those qualities. My mom was born in Los Angeles, California in the year of 1975. She was raised by two loving parents along with her three other siblings. They moved to Arizona when my mom was about ten years old. My mom later graduated from Mountain Pointe High

The whole family was ecstatic to be welcoming a new member to our family. When my brother was born in 2008 I was young and did not quite have the chance to experience the pregnancy with her. This time I wanted to do everything that I could to be more involved and help out wherever it was needed. So I asked my mom to attend one of her doctors appointments with her and she let me.

I remember this day like it was yesterday. We arrived at the doctor's office and sign in. The doctor finally calls us back and escorts us to a room. My mom lies down on the on the bed and the doctor applies a gel onto her stomach. We are both anxiously waiting to see the baby on the monitor and to hear the heartbeat.

The doctor uses the machine and feels around my moms stomach. The room is silent as she does this and she keeps feeling around my moms stomach for quite a while. She says that she could not hear a heartbeat but that she would show the results to another doctor to double check. The next doctor comes in and breaks the news to us that my mom had a miscarriage. My mom bursted into tears and I just remember crying all the way home. Our whole family basically cried for that whole
