The book of Judges and Samson
Introduction
The story of Samson is written in the book of Judges. Judges is a book in the Bible that happened to occur after the death of Joshua. Because the people of Israel were disobeying God, God punished them. But then again, the people cry out for help and ask God for forgiveness. So, God up rose different leaders or judges to rescue them again. The judges that God elected were flawed individuals which demonstrated God’s work through people that were underestimated. The Philistine rulers promised Delilah to pay her if she found out the source of Samson’s great power. She was indeed successful with that and was able to find out that it was his hair. The Philistines cut his hair and surely God left him. The Philistines took Samson’s eye out and praised their God Dagon for putting Samson in their hand.
The Philistines were then celebrating and were high in their spirit as they wanted Samson to entertain them. Samson took that moment to pray so that God would give him power back for the last time and Merciful God did not let down Samson. Samson pushed the central pillar and killed thousands of people, he killed more people than the people he killed when he could see, and he himself died. Samson was a Judge of Israel for 20 years.
The significant of this story in God’s overall story line
The book of judges shows me how God is very patient and that He would never turn His back on His people no matter what they did as long as they come back to Him. The period in this book was a dark period for the Israelites as they were pretty much messed up. God brought up different judges to save His people as they would cry for help though they turned away their heart in the good times.

I came to the USA to get treated for my diagnosis but He also provided a way for me to be one of Oklahoma Christian University student. My sponsor family, “The Wilsons”, were very supportive and God used them to bring me to the US and get treated and beyond that go to school. Coming to the US, it was not just my physical health that got better but also my spiritual health. The friends I made both in school and in my treatment center were from God. They were with me both in my hardest, darkest moment and in my happiest, greatest moment too.
Going to collage by myself in a foreign country was something I never thought would happen in my life. But indeed, God had a plan for me and I can’t wait to see the plans He have for me for the future. Lord willing, I would like to be a medical missionary. I would like to serve God and I want to be His tool to reach other as he used missionaries to reach me.
