Religious View Of Success

Defining success is difficult because there are many interpretations of it. If one would ask a random group of people to give an example of what qualifies as success most of the responses would be different. This is because its definition depends on a variety of things and views. The Oxford definition of success is “The accomplishment of an aim or purpose,” but there is much more to it; Success can be viewed as a religious, financial, and or social accomplishment.
If one is religious, success is not something you will be able to hold in your hand and showcase it, instead it’ll be something much more complicated such as, a spiritual and faithful state. For example, as a devoted Christian, the meaning of success can be defined as entering Gods kingdom one day and being able to say they lived and preached each day following and preaching the word of God. As a Hindu, success may be becoming an ascetic or reaching moksha and exit the continuous cycle of rebirth. This is because in today’s society, success is often measured based of materialistic things such as the amount of money one has in his or her bank account or on the size of their house and on how many cars one owns. Most of the time the riches people are the ones viewed as the most successful.
