Going back to the origin of the word "religion", It may have come from the Latin word "religare"- meaning "to tie fast" or "bind together". I really like this definition because I can relate greatly to it in my past "religious experience". My faith is what keeps me grounded; it is what keeps me from falling apart in the chaos of the world. I have significantly noticed this when my faith has started to hinder- more specifically when I have returned to my faith. I realize how much of a mess my life has become without God; whether thats emotionally or physically out of control.

When I am discussing with someone about their beliefs, I prefer to ask if the are spiritual rather than religious. Although I would closely associate myself as Methodist
