Throughout the decline of the three Islamic states, the role of religious conservatism played a huge part. Having religious diversity within the empire’s caused several complications. It was the job of the rulers to keep peace and insure prosperity. Due to the variety of the religious groups all the empire's military weapons and technology declined, the imperial central powers began to weaken, and too many building projects were started.
