Religious art and sacred music cause reflection on the goodness and the beauty of God. They portray a life of grace and the world of the Spirit. Mary, the Mother of God, has a unique role in God’s plan for the salvation of mankind. Through an art piece titled “The Christ Child” and the song “Ave Maria Stella” we can derive that Mary, Mother of God, has a unique role in God’s plan for the salvation of mankind.
This art piece called “The Christ Child” by Anthony VanArsdale. Mary has Jesus seated on her lap and the child Jesus has his arms out stretched upwards, indicating his Resurrection and that he brings peace. Both Jesus and Mary have halos and there are what seems to be angels or people floating around her, this picture invokes what the …show more content…
For instance, in iconography blue means divinity and red means humanity; with the colors meaning already determined there is not much room left for broader thought on the work being presented. Similarly, in Christian spirituality there are different ways of coming to know God and have a relationship with him. For some people it’s through pain, some through friendship, some through lots of prayer, etc. Art is another way that affects the way in which we can commune with God. us come to know God in a new way like other things that happen in life. Art affects how we talk to God and how God talks to us. “The Catholic Spirit” in its section on prayer/seeing with the artist, says that “Meditation can be described as ‘an active turning to God.’ A person can ponder and reflect on any subject using all the faculties of the mind, including imagination. Almost anything from the simplest object to a Bible passage can be the subject of meditation; everything can speak to the believer who is sensitive to the omnipresent God.” This picture of Mary holding the Child
