Later Narciso stumbles upon Tenorio and they start brawling, Antonio without disclosing his presence he witnesses the fight. Tenorio pulls out a gun and shoots Narciso. Tenorio vanishes through the blizzard. Antonio in verge of experiencing another death he says the Act of Contrition to Narciso taking in the sins that he has committed. Now two deaths on top of him, Antonio does not understand why good dies and the evil survives. That dilemma is evident in his dreams where he seeks justice for Narciso. In page 173 “ Forgive Narciso! I cried to God. I will, the terrible Voice responded, if you also ask me to forgive Tenorio.” In order for Narciso to be forgiven for all his sins, Antonio himself has to forgive Tenorio. Antonio finds himself disagreeing with God, someone he will have to worship for the rest of his life if he carries out his mothers dreams of becoming a priest. Antonio shows his pity toward Florence by attempting to connect with him thru a different angle, the golden carp. He reaches the side where a gang of boys swum and Florence was there dead.
