“Acts of Religion or Acts of Hatred?” http://www.scholastic.com/browse/article.jsp?id=3756477 On September 11th, 2001, nineteen militants associated with the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda hijacked four American Airline’s airplanes, and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States of America. Two of the airplanes were flown into the two towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, then a third plane was flown just outside of Washington D.C. and was crashed into the pentagon. The fourth and final plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania but was believed to have been headed to the White House. The people that were accused, were normally only accused simply because someone in the town had something against them or did not like them and the majority of people who were hanged were innocent. Now, the terrorist attacks of 9/11 have greatly impacted the way Americans view people from the middle east, At least 35,000 people worldwide have been convicted as terrorists in the decade since 9/11. But while some bombed hotels or blew up buses, others were put behind bars for waving a political sign or blogging about a protest. Is there such thing as too much protection? In both situations, all these people have been affected because many people are and were scared of what could come next. Lastly, in “The Crucible”, citizens were being accused of sinning against the Lord and against their religion and against the bible. They were being accused of being possessed by Satan or doing witchcraft, and casting spells, all of which are wrong under the beliefs of the Puritans. Most of the people that had been accused, had no chance of a fair trial because those who ran the trial were very religious and truly believed that what they were doing is what God wanted them to do, when really, they weren’t, in the bible it says hate the sin and not the sinner. or something along those lines, and they were executing people, when they should’ve actually been trying to convert them and make them pure again. Now, the Quran (the religious book the muslims follow), tells muslims and it’s followers to “kill the idolaters wherever you find them and capture them, and blockade them, and watch or them at every lookout... “ (Quran 9:5). So, the muslim’s religion tells them to kill those who sin against Allah (their God) or those who believe in something other in Allah or just doing believe in anything in general.
