When Okonkwo returned to his clan after his seven year exile when he saw the white men trying to change the religion they practiced he was very angry. Okonkwo was so angry that the way he was speaking you could tell he was so angry, “What is it that has happened to our people?” Okonkwo sees the clan as weak, “Why have they lost the power to fight?” (Achebe, 135). Therefore when Okonkwo heard that his son converted to Catholicism he was very mad, “You have all seen the great abomination of your brother. Now he is no longer my son or your brother.” (Achebe, 132). The changes that came from the new religion and from kicking Okonkwo’s son out of the family was the dialogue that showed the most emotion in “Things Fall Apart”. Everything in the world is constantly changing and evolving into new and modern ways. Throughout the book the dialogue changes constantly from happy to mad to upset within just a few sentences. The setting is showing how things used to be for the IGBO community and how it has changed into the more modern ways of today for transportation, religion, and technology. The conflicts of Things Fall Apart shows how people must overcome the obstacles they face throughout life. The world will always keep moving, it’ll never quit
