Religion in Public Schools Essay
Introduction: In recent years teaching or the individual practice of religion in school has become a very controversial topic. There are many different views on this matter and even more opinions on how it should be handled. There are people on both sides of the spectrum, there are those who believe that it should be taught and allowed in school, and there are those who believe it should not be taught or practiced in school. There have been cases brought to court about how religion should be taken out of schools, or if it should be allowed. This essay will explore both sides of the spectrum.

Opposing Argument One: It is a common belief that prayer is not allowed in public schools, this is not true. Under constitutional rights anybody is allowed to pray out of the classroom on their own time. Students are allowed to pray where they want as long as it is not during class time. They can pray in the cafeteria, outside, in the halls, on the school bus, or under their breath, but they are not allowed to use class time to pray out loud. There are many religious people who are fighting to reintroduce prayer in the classroom. These religious groups believe that if prayer is implemented in school than students may re-identify with moral values. They believe that because prayer is not commonly taught that younger generations will no longer have as many moral values as older generations do. They use the
