Religion In Hamlet

In the story of “Hamlet” also known as “The Tragedy of Hamlet” there are many characters that make the story unique and somewhat chaotic. In this specific time, the protestant reformation was in action. The protestant reformation was a religious rivalry that splintered Catholic Europe, which made the Christianity beliefs stronger during this period. Hamlet was placed in the late middle ages, mostly around a royal palace in Elsinore, a city in Denmark. Denmark was a Protestant nation at the time William Shakespeare wrote Hamlet, which makes him the perfect protestant kid. In northern and central Europe, a group of important reformers challenged authority and made the Catholic Church get questioned about their religious beliefs and practices. In this reformation it is supposed to be said that Christianity is a big part of how everyone should act. In Hamlet, this play really focuses on incest and murder, which is not something that focuses on Christianity during the protestant reformation. Hamlet is one of the main men within this play, and he is the prince of Denmark, and there is more about Hamlet than we cannot see with our own eyes. Claudius is a major antagonist to Hamlet in this play, and Claudius also is a corrupt politician who likes to manipulate others in the since that others do not understand. Claudius within the story has broken every example of God and Christianity with how he has killed King Hamlet, and lied about it with how he soothes the truth. Next, is Gertrude, she is a character that strongly agrees with the word woman and how she needs men in her life, but who knows how many?
