Baptism is a subject within the religion world that is controversial and a topic with various points of view in who is offering the right conclusion. Therefore, as human we should ask who then is providing the true information. I want to start by providing a meaning in regards to baptism. John Scott defines baptism as, “The best way to introduce the meaning of baptism is to assert that both the sacraments of the gospel are essentially sacraments of grace, that is, sacraments of divine initiative, not of human activity.” I want to cite a Bible verse in why we have so many religions and so many opinions in what exactly has to be done to reach salvation. In 2 Thessalonians 2: 11-12 states, “For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness” (2 Thessalonians 2: 11-12, NIV). Consequently, here we could appreciate that God himself send them a powerful misunderstanding to condemn those who have not believe in Jesus Christ. These verses help us understand why we have some many religions and so many points of view. Now, in regards to baptism, the Bible does not state if baptism should be performed on infants. What mode of baptism is biblical?
The mode of baptism has been a subject of controversy for centuries. In according to Battle, “One issue that has concerned and divided Christians is the manner in which we should be baptized.” According to him, different ways of performing the event is found within different believe. For example, Lutheran and most Reformed churches exercise baptism by sprinkling or pouring water on the person baptized. Baptist and many similar churches consider the only binding method to baptize is by immersing the person in water.
