For ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds." (Qur’an 7:80-81). Lut in the Qu’ran is referred to as “Lot” in The Holy Bible. The passage is believed to be referring to the same story as the one told in The Holy Bible, the story of Sodom and Gamorrah. Most Muslims believe that this piece of scripture refers to God’s disapproval of gay or same-sex relationships. The piece of scripture referring to Lut and the lust for men over women in Chapter 7 is one of the main pieces of scripture from the Qu’ran that Muslims use to point disapproval at gays. Since the story in the Qu’ran is similar to the story in The Holy Bible, the Qu’ran can be interpreted to mean that God disapproved of the men lusting for another man, the angel, while they were married to their wives. The reason God disapproved of the men’s actions were because the actions were those of lust. The actions in the Qu’ran are that of lust, as well. Throughout the Qu’ran the story of Sodom is referenced in many different places. The story of Sodom, to Muslims, has been interpreted as a direct condemning of …show more content…
When both religious groups decipher and analyze their sacred texts, they see the surface picture, that God and Allah condemn homosexual behavior, that homosexuals will not make it through the gates of heaven. The religious groups of Christianity and Islam choose to look at the surface picture of their sacred texts instead of delving deep into the history of The Holy Bible and the Holy Qu’ran. While God and Allah may condemn homosexual behavior, the sacred texts of each religious group are unclear. A faithful Christian or Muslim who identifies as being a homosexual must delve into the sacred texts themselves and decide what they truly believe is

Rachels’ article, however, demonstrates that certain passages found in the Bible to prove abortion wrong are actually not included in the Bible at all. People read the Bible to confirm their worldview, not to counter it. In a strange paradox, both the conquerors and the conquered find themes in the Bible to support their own truths; to conquerors, the Bible confirmed that they were superior to those that they had conquered, and the Bible deemed that they were righteous, while the conquered used the Bible to demonstrate that they were not lesser than the conqueror and in fact should be liberated from those conquerors. With numbers this high, it is presumable that nearly all members of the population will be in contact with a member of the LGBTQ+ community. However, not all members of the Judeo-Christian community are opposed to homosexuality, with many taking a revisionist…
