My first symbol is the books. Maddy has spent all of her life locked in her house and in that time she read a lot. Choosing the books as a symbol shows what Maddy does with her time in the house. Then having my second symbol as the ocean shows where she wants to go. I chose the ocean because throughout the book and her time she spent talking with Olly she always talked about seeing the ocean and traveling.…

I chose my first image, the two boys together, to represent the friendship that Shmuel and Bruno have together, even in the drastic situation. The first word i chose was “Friendship” which was a major part of the film, and Bruno’s friendship with Shmuel really touched my heart. I then chose the word “Innocence” to show how innocent Bruno is to not realize what is happening to the Jewish people, like when he said, “ Can we go to the café or something?” inside the concentration camp. The second image is chose was thousands of shoes outside of a gas chamber.…

The sixteenth photo I had taken is a photo of a book by the title of “The Tipping Point” by Malcolm Gladwell. The reason why I have chosen this photo is because the book has taught me that the little things around us can make a big difference. The seventeenth photo I had taken is a photo of a book called Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich. The reason why I have chosen this photo is because it shows how many people who live in the U.S work full-time are receiving poverty- level wages and the author is just mentioning how can people survive under these conditions.…

Misty Copeland is a woman who defied all the odds and ended up becoming the first African-American principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre. In her autobiography Life in Motion, Copeland depicts her life as a young woman before her days of ballet until recently. This book particularly stands out as a commendable autobiography because Misty writes this book as a story a form of empowerment to “the little brown girls” who do not think that they are able to fight despite all of the odds. Other reasons why this book stands out in the autobiographical realm is the metaphor “life in motion” as well as Copeland’s characterization of characters such as Cindy. One of the things that stood out this book is her consistent repetition of the sentence…

They are arranged and lined up in a sequence, and the order in which they are placed instructs the cell’s actions. Although DNA is passed down, it has distinct characteristics that make it yours. This is the reason why when there is a crime scene and your DNA is found, they know exactly who you are (126).…
