Poverty is based on when a household income both in the UK and in the EU is below 60% of the national median. "The median is known as the middle figure between the highest and lowest income". From year to year the poverty line moves in line with the median which is known as the "relative income poverty". The relative poverty goes up as well as the median income. In Wales there are more than 20,000 chidre that are living in poverty, this means that a child's life is dramatically affected. Children in Wales who are are living in poverty are affected socially due to the fact they can't go out to palces with thier friends, they have to go without proper essentials for school and college etc and they ay a;so be living in a house/flat/temporary accomadation
