Relationships In Romeo And Juliet

Have you ever wonder what it is to be with someone who you don’t know in a love relationship?Falling in love at first sight is ridiculous, for two persons have to know each other and have time to form a true love relationship. The first time I read Romeo and Juliet I was shocked at how dramatic this two characters were since the beginning Romeo and Juliet were saying that they were “met for each other”.since that instance I could see how this two characters were going to be as the acts passed by.Although for shakespeare this might be kind of valid because love at that time it meant a drama that had a happy ending. From what I could see in the story this were two powerful families who lived at the same town who had to share with.Romeo quoted “love is a smoke raised with the fume of sighs;Being purged, a fire sparkling in lovers' eyes;Being vexed a sea nourish'd with loving tears:What is it else?”Obviously this would make this two families to constantly being fighting with each other, and more bad would be that two individuals from their families are in love. The Capulets were Juliet’s family, and the Montague’s were Romeo’s family;whose he would leave with juliet if these didn’t accept her and her family as well. The Capulet's act …show more content…

Throughout Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare exhibits both romantic and identity crushes to tell the story of two star-crossed lovers. What even is a romantic and identity crush? In both cases, “the young person largely projects onto another person idealized attributes the admirer highly values and wants to be associated with” (Pickhardt 2). According to the article Adolescence and the Teenage Crush, Romantic crushes are formed by finding someone whom they find powerfully attractive, who they feel excited to be around, and with whom they want to spend most of their time with. Contradicting romantic crushes, identity crushes are formed by finding someone they much admire, want to become like, and treat as a leader or model they are eager to imitate…

We can apply STANDPOINT THEORY to this interaction between Noah and Allie. Allie finds herself in love with two very different people. Noah, who was her first love, and was the one that her family didn’t approve of because they felt that he was “trash” and not “suitable” for her. Lon, who is her current love and fiancé, and happens to be very wealthy and the type of man that her family finds suitable for her. Allie is in love with both men but doesn’t know what she is going to do or how she will pick between the man with the social status that she knows her family approves of and wants for her or picking the man that her family has already decided wasn’t good enough for her.…

Weddings in the twenty-first century are quite different than what would have taken place in the time of Romeo and Juliet. Marriage has changed tremendously since Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet; arranged marriage has vanished, marriage customs have changed, and how much goes into preparing a wedding. In the fifteenth century most marriages were arranged by parents or relatives not by marriage. The purpose of arranged marriage was to transfer land and ownership or peace treaty between two families or groups.…

ROMEO AND JULIET Shakespeare shows commitment in the prologue through a variant of different ways. ‘’A pair of star crossed lovers, take their life,’’ In this sentence the word star-crossed lovers, tells us and indicates that the two people who were the star-crossed lovers were truly in love and by it saying they ‘take their life’ then the commitment between Romeo and Juliet was strong. The phrase saying ‘death marked love,’ could indicate that the deaths were because of love, or they died with love and died happiness. In the prologue, it says ‘’doth with the death bury their parents strife.’’…

Loyalty plays an important role in the majority of relationships. In William Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet, loyalty is represented by the following three characters; Mercutio, Tybalt and the Nurse. In his play he portrays loyalty in many different ways towards family, friends and loved ones, but loyalty in this scenario, it was taken to the extreme, causing conflict and tragedy. Tybalt is loyal beyond words, honouring the family rivalry between the Capulets and Montagues.…

Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare began and ended with death, but the story continues to live on. Romeo and Juliet was written in 1500’s and showed how relationships worked back then and how Shakespeare saw relationships. It is important to use lenses because, “The different lenses also allow critics to focus on particular aspects of a work they consider important.” (McGinn research, via Tyson, Richart). The relationship lense is looking at the different types of relationships and see how they affect the story or the characters.…

Romeo and Juliet Marriage in the time of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet was very different from today’s time. In the fifteenth century, marriages were more arranged, the couple’s engagement and courting periods were shorter, and they married earlier. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet’s father decides that she should marry Paris (Act III, scene v, 150). Juliet is clearly distressed about this since she does not love Paris; she loves Romeo.…

In Conclusion, I think that Romeo is a young, inexperienced and impatient but loyal and brave boy. I think that his naivety plays a huge rule in this because love was taken as an extravagant feeling to have when it was not truly happy as the lovers can experience heartbreak and many other obstacles. It seems as if Romeo only more cautious and deliberate, his devastating ending could have been prevented (even though we have not finished the book yet). Amongst friends especially Mercutio, Romeo shows signs of his social and quick witted persona, even with his fond of verbal jousting that is mainly about sex. Lastly, Romeo is like every other male in the world who only unveils their true self to the people who they trust or who understand them.…

In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the two main characters display the classic romantic relationship that is often portrayed as what a couple should strive for. Thus, many of the ideas presented in the tragedy about “true love” are romanticized in modern society, leading to an idealized toxicity in which the participants are extremely codependent and fail to take notice of their own personal well being. Juliet’s toxic love for Romeo manifests in her desire to always have him by her side in a way that lacks individual freedom. Romeo has a similarly unhealthy love with desires that satisfy Juliet’s. In the orchard, as Romeo is about to leave, Juliet says she wishes to keep him “no further than a wanton’s bird, / That lets it hop a little from…

William Shakespeare is known for writing some of the most profound tragedies of all time, including Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth, two of the most famous plays. When an audience is watching these dramas, they see how horrific events can happen to people who seem completely moral, which begs the following question: what leads to these tragedies? One can easily blame the individual imperfections of the characters, but every tragedy in Shakespeare’s canon shares a greater overarching warning. Shakespeare’s tragic dramas Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth show the audience that tragedy does not always emerge from disobedience or manipulation, but rather authority and power. Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet famously ends with both of the titular characters…

Who would we be if we were raised by other people? Romeo and Juliet is a tragic love story written by William Shakespeare following the events of two "enemies" who fall in love. Romeo and Juliet have a poor relationship with their parents because they do not make an effort to be in their children's lives and tend to neglect their children's welfare. Parent-child relationships are the most influential and essential interaction one can have. Unfortunately, not all children are raised by their genetic parents so other mother and father figures step in to fore fill those rolls.…

According to what I have said, it becomes clear that Romeo and Juliet's way of love is totally different from their parent's way of love; each party has his own rule of love and his specific own way to express such love. Obviously, Shakespeare draws this comparison between parental love and romantic love to show the audience that although love is seen as a natural, desirable, and beautiful feeling, one may express it in a way that could result in violence, and destructive acts, and anger is one of such destructive acts " If romantic relationships were a coin, affection and love would be one side; anger and conflict would be the other" (Lynch 140). What Lynch wants to say is that Love is really a noble feeling but at the same…
