Cassie, one of the main characters, loses two of her family members to the Others, and the thirds is taken somewhere where she can’t get in. She’s alone in the wild, until Evan, a stranger Cassie gets to know, rescues her after she is shot. She then embarks on a journey to find her brother, Sammy (aka Nugget). Cassie and Ben remain very loyal to their promises, even if it means they had to risk their lives in order to fulfil them. When Sammy first gets taken away from his family by the Camp Haven soldiers, Cassie makes a promise to him that no matter what, she will find him and take him back (Yancey 81-82). One time this happened is, when Cassie and Evan go together on a journey to look for Sammy. At first they don’t agree, but after a long discussion, they work together through rough scenarios to reach their main goal. They might have split up in order to take on Wonderland and rescue Sammy, but their plan was created together (Yancey 334, 375-382). Once Cassie and Evan were able to do things together, they both contributed to their achievement of the main goal. At the end, Ben, Cassie, and Sammy collaborated to escape Camp Haven and Wonderland once and for all. By combining their skills, knowledge and having some help along the way from Evan and the rest of Squad 53, they were able to make it out in the brink of time (Yancey 430-457). Without their cooperation amongst each other, none of them would have made it, or everything would have turned out much worse. Even in today’s world, we all need to learn to work together to get things done, even if it is with people you might
