a) In the text it was mentioned that the Waknuk women had a cross stitched to their dresses, and the women believed strongly in religion they also practiced it. Their hair and clothes were clean, pretty and not sterilized. But the Fringes Women were the rejects of Waknuk, as most of them were sent away because of a discovered deviation. Those women had tattered clothes, wore no crosses, did not practice or believe in religion as the Waknuk people did. They were described as “dirty”, lived in poverty; they fought in battles but in Waknuk only men and young boys fought in battles. They were also sterilised as opposed to the women in Waknuk who had a “normalcy certificate”. Fringes women were all deformed/had abnormalities, they were considered “abominations” whilst the women in Waknuk were not.

Both scenarios show that they are different among the masses. In the Chrysalids, David Storm, his sister and his other friends are telepathic and Sophie had an extra limb which was strongly prohibited. The LGBT community involves same sex marriages, bisexual relationships and gender changes which go against the moral of man and woman relations.
Also another parallel would be both the LGBT community and the Chrysalids have fear about going against the norm and they endure great internal battles within themselves of being accepted as they truly are or keeping the truth hidden for the sake of avoiding condemnation. We saw several examples of this condemnation in the Chrysalids such as Aunt Harriet and her baby, Katherine when she was captured, Sophie, Gordon (Spiderman) etc. Even with the LGBT Community most times when a couple decides to make their relationship public they are scorned upon, judged and are no longer treated as
