In the story “Sonny's Blues,” there is an awkward relationship between the narrator and his brother. The narrator and his brother seem to love each other to the point where they can’t express their feelings and they often become angry at one another for the littlest reasons. On page 98 of the story, the narrator was talking to his brother and became angry with his brother. In the story it states, “' I want to join the army. Or the navy, I don't care. If I say I'm old enough, they'll believe me.' Then I got mad. It was because I was so scared.” The narrator felt fear when his brother didn't know what he wanted to do with his life.
