The comments Friar has made to Romeo about his past love helps add to the effect that Friar truly understands Romeo. Friar says, “God pardon sin! Wast thou with Rosaline?” This line alone helps prove the fact the Friar was very involved with Romeo and knew who Romeo was interested in.
