In the play, Juliet's character is the thinker, planner, and worrier. When Juliet sees Romeo at her balcony in the play, she says “If they do see thee, they will murder thee” (line 70). Miranda Gobin/P5/2017 How Does Shakespeare Present Juliet (Romeo and Juliet) From Shakespeare’s classic, Romeo and Juliet, comes the most notable female character in English literature, she is a young girl, who has lived a sheltered and seemingly eventless life before meeting him. At times she can be very passionate but she is also one of the most intelligent characters in the play as well as brave and devoted to what she believes in throughout the play These are the most prominent traits that Shakespeare gives Juliet Capulet. First, Juliet is a sweet girl with childlike innocence, kindness, and passion. For example, although knowing Romeo for less than a day, she becomes absolutely love-struck by him. Later on the night of the Capulet…

Through his actions, Friar Laurence clearly shows that he cares about Romeo and is very close to him, even though he makes desperate, questionable choices. This desperation, however, is caused by Romeo, whose impulsive actions manipulate the friar to work towards his misguided interests, leading to his fateful marriage to…

Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare began and ended with death, but the story continues to live on. Romeo and Juliet was written in 1500’s and showed how relationships worked back then and how Shakespeare saw relationships. It is important to use lenses because, “The different lenses also allow critics to focus on particular aspects of a work they consider important.” (McGinn research, via Tyson, Richart). Juliet sets herself apart from Shakespeare’s typical woman through her own immense courage and willingness to do anything for Romeo. However, the example Juliet’s bravery shows is not just designed for Shakespeare, but is designed to set an example for everyone. Juliet also represents an independent spirit and illustrates the idea that one can be their own person through her defiance of her parents’ commands. Juliet also serves to defy stereotypes about the role of women through her gender role reversal and her choice to die rather than live without Romeo, which show a pioneering woman. Shakespeare’s usage of Juliet sets precedent for not only those who love who they want to love or be their own person, but for everyone, for all time.…

In Conclusion, I think that Romeo is a young, inexperienced and impatient but loyal and brave boy. I think that his naivety plays a huge rule in this because love was taken as an extravagant feeling to have when it was not truly happy as the lovers can experience heartbreak and many other obstacles. It seems as if Romeo only more cautious and deliberate, his devastating ending could have been prevented (even though we have not finished the book yet). Amongst friends especially Mercutio, Romeo shows signs of his social and quick witted persona, even with his fond of verbal jousting that is mainly about sex. Lastly, Romeo is like every other male in the world who only unveils their true self to the people who they trust or who understand them.…

The Montauges and Capulets are enemies. Lastly, when the nurse goes to Romeo for the date and time of the wedding she warns Romeo “…if ye should lead her in a fool’s paradise, as they say, it were a very gross kind…

Juliet is no exception as her personality is strong shows the audience that “nowhere in Shakespeare’s psyche is Juliet ‘less than’ Romeo; nor is she ‘more than’ Romeo. They are equal”, this statement alone from Packer informs the reader that Romeo and Juliet stand on equal ground, which is unlike most men and women of the era (Packer 100). Juliet can be seen throughout the play as the one in the relationship who makes all the hard decisions, in fact, she was the one who proposed to Romeo and told him to make the arrangements. But it isn’t only her actions with Romeo that reflect this trait, as she defied her father and argued with her mother over what she believed to be right and best for her, it represented that she did not feel meek and weaker than a man, but on even ground.…

According to what I have said, it becomes clear that Romeo and Juliet's way of love is totally different from their parent's way of love; each party has his own rule of love and his specific own way to express such love. Obviously, Shakespeare draws this comparison between parental love and romantic love to show the audience that although love is seen as a natural, desirable, and beautiful feeling, one may express it in a way that could result in violence, and destructive acts, and anger is one of such destructive acts " If romantic relationships were a coin, affection and love would be one side; anger and conflict would be the other" (Lynch 140). What Lynch wants to say is that Love is really a noble feeling but at the same…
