Relationships are a part of life, some are good relationships, and some are toxic relationships. Elane had experienced two different toxic relationships. One with a friend, and one with a boyfriend. Both relationships had mentally drained her. "I can 't believe how stupid I was. I wasted two years of my life, " she said out loud to herself. She thought about how she tried and tried to make her friend, Haleigh, and her boyfriend, Joe, happy. She never got the same in return. Whenever asked, she would help, no questions asked. There was a time in her life, she could recall when she realized Haleigh and Joe where toxic to her mentally and physically. Joe had finally graduated. He gave her a mean glare. “I don 't feel like driving,” he stated. Elane turned away from him feeling jaded.
“I 'll be fine, I 'll drink some coffee and we will get back on the road,” Neil stated. When they arrived Joes parents where waiting for them. Joe turned to Elane and stated, "You should un-pack the cars while we go get lunch." "Why do I need to unpack the cars alone?" she asked. He looked at her with a cold stare. "You should because I told you to." Elane stared after him with her mouth open as he left to go inside with everyone else. Elane sighed and wondered why she was with him in the first place, as she unpacked the car. That night she adressed Joe and asked him why he had been so cold toward her. " Look, I 'm sorry, I didn 't mean to hurt you. I was just stressed about what my parents thought about you coming along so I pretended to dissmis you." He stated. He gave her a smile that melted her heart. "Okay, but don 't do it again, it really hurt when you turned away from me. Promise?" she

The next day Joe was back to normal, but that afternoon he reverted back to how he was when they had arrived. Everyone was enjoying the beach and having fun and playing in the shallow water. Elane was afraid of the water, everyone knew this. They were all on the beach when Joes stated" We need to go out to the sand bar." There was a courus of agreements.
Elane hesitated. "Joe I don 't think I can go out there. Can we just stay in the shallows?" She asked timidly. "What fun is that. You need to just get over it and come out in the water with us ,or go back to the condo. " He said with no sympothy. He turned and ran out to the water leaving Elane standing alone on the beach. About an hour after the incident Haleigh decided to take the kids in for a nap so Elane followed her to the condo. " Haleigh , Joe has been really hurtful to me latley. Do you know what that is about?" Elane
