Abstract
Photography has always been an intersection for various theoretical and of course philosophical debates and arguments as well. The relationship between photography and reality has been one the most significant arguments during one and half past centuries. This is because the presumption that photography is a totally mechanical way for recording the image of world. Therefore, the photograph is a particular sort of image, one that operates through freezing a moment in time, portraying objects, people and places as they appeared within the view of the camera at the moment.
Hence, objective reality, reality simulation, photographic reality, hyper reality, obscure reality, have been the core debates in contemporary photography arguments. This review attempts to point out key arguments during past half century and reach to a conclusion on intrinsic characteristics of photography.

At first glance, it appeared that a photograph is a perfect representation of existing reality for its straight relation with physics-optic, physics-chemistry, and nowadays, physics-electronic. To produce a photograph, the role of photographer is only the operator of apparatus. A photographic image is forming by light entirely and without any human interferes. The reflected light from objects passes through an optical component and focuses on the light-sensitive surface in a darkroom. This is the main reason, which causes to raise the idea of reproducing reality by photography.
