A male could have multiple intimate partners or be involved in many relationships yet the title he would receive from this would be a player. A female could have the same relationships yet this would result in her being called derogative terms, even though both genders risk similar consequences. Another case could be the different responses when sexually assaulted. If this situation happened to a girl, she could run and receive help. If this were a male they most likely wouldn’t take him serious. In the Haven course, I didn’t know that one out of five males were sexually assaulted everyday. They usually do not display any of the male cases in society especially since it is mainly women cases that are being shown. Even how each gender is dressed represents double standards. A woman can put on male clothes but a man cannot be seen in any kind of female clothing without being called gay. A rule applied to females would be if they are wearing revealing clothes then they could be labeled as easy or as a whore. She could also be dressed down in clothing such as sweatpants or an old t-shirt yet society would label her as not caring about her appearance. Males are supposed to go for hard working jobs such as being president, CEO, or a construction worker. Women are supposed to be seen as working in offices or indoors. Yet the opposite could apply to both genders. An opposing standard on the two would be if a female goes for a hardworking job then she would be appreciated for being an independent woman. If a male wanted a job that was labeled for a woman such as being a designer then he would be labeled for being weak. Although male and females can apply for the same jobs they still would receive a different wage because of their genders. Males would usually receive a higher pay than a female regardless of who put in more work. These are some of the different double standards that society ha placed on the male and females, which include marriage modestly, and the work environment.
