There are many factors affecting life expectancy and they vary depending on the region. In the developed countries of the world life expectancy is shortened by different factors. Where most of the population has regular access to alcohol and drugs, they are more likely to make use of them, when pregnant or not. In Sub-Saharian Africa life expectancy ranges from 66 years to 46, showing the relationship between maternal health and life expectancy.
The countries with little maternal health available for women are the Least Developed ones, therefore have less economical resources for helping them. However, this also shows how there is little knowledge on pregnancy in these countries and how the women don’t know that their actions before giving birth are going to affect the newborn baby.
