As mentioned previously, the focus of this study was to determine if a relationship exists between communication apprehension, academic performance, and affective learning. Results were recorded using Qualtrics, a web-based research software that provides survey platforms. These results were input into SPSS so that statistical analysis could be performed. Given the nature of the variables of interest (continuous), two correlations tests were performed.
Hypothesis One: Correlations Test

It was hypothesized that Communication Apprehension would correlate negatively with Affective Learning. The correlation coefficient r = -.082 (p = .293) indicates that the test scores are not significantly correlated. Although not significantly correlated, the hypothesis was partially supported as it correctly predicted the negative relationship between the two variables. The results suggest that higher degrees of communication apprehension amongst college students are not correlated with improved academic performance.
