Odysseus Return Home In Homer's The Odyssey

Odysseus endured many different people while visiting various stops when returning home from the Trojan War. These adventures are what make up the majority of the beginning of The Odyssey. It took him a great amount of time to return home to his wife and son. For the majority of this time away from home after the war, he was held on Calypso 's island where she idolized Odysseus. He was kept here for seven years. Odysseus and Calypso had a very intimate relationship, where it is believed he even fathered a child with Calypso. Calypso was the daughter of the Titan, Atlas, and the mother Tethys. Calypso 's name is related to the Greek word which means "to conceal." She is known to symbolize the forces that divert men from their goals. The myth of Calypso and Odysseus is one story that she is mostly known for.
