From being the oldest in my family, to being a leader in friend groups, to being a student ambassador, to being a Household Representative, and being a chapter head for a youth group, I have experienced quite a range of positions. However, through these experiences I have understood what it is like to experience struggle. I know that leadership has its drawbacks. It can take a toll on me, as I’m sure it does to anyone who knows what it’s like to be a leader. These struggles can range from external conflict, such as handling inappropriateness or drama, or internal conflict, such as self-doubt or confusion. I feel like I’ve been a relational leader all my life without really fully understanding it. Though I do like examining relational leadership, I want to see other styles that perhaps I can consider and integrate in my life. I understand that no style can fully eliminate the sacrifice and burden that remains intrinsic to the nature of standing up as a leader, but I believe that SLC can introduce me to new and different ideas that will train me on how to respond to situations in the most efficient way. Ultimately, I hope to find my true purpose in being a leader and create a unique style that allows me to push myself to be the best version of myself that I can
