The song I did was ¨Carry On¨ by Fun. ¨Carry On¨ is a song about no matter what happens to keep going. I have times when my life is hard and I feel like thereś a lot on my shoulders, but this song reminds me to move on and look at the bright side of things. There are a couple quotes that could relate to me from this piece and one I chose was, “If youŕe lost and alone, or youŕe sinking like a stone, carry on.” This quote relates to me because I’ve felt alone or left out before, but I got through it. I've also felt lost and unsure before and this song tells me to forget about it and move on. Another quote that I found that relates to me is, "Cause we are, we are shining stars, we are invincible, we are who we are." This quote tells me to stay

Für Elise by Beethoven is the song that expresses who I am. When I started playing piano, I got frustrated that most of my family had a natural talent while I didn't. My father talked to me and gave me one of the most important lessons of my life: "Practice makes perfection, if you want something, insist until you get it". After playing piano as a hobby, at age 17 I decided to take my skills to the next level by taking piano lessons at college and I challenged myself to first learn how to play Für Elise. It wasn't easy, but practice made perfection.…

I choose the songs “Walkin’ After Midnight” by Patsy Cline (1957), “Darkest Valley” by Group 1 Crew (2012), and “Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been” by Relient K (2004). I choose these three pieces because they are all something that I listen to regularly and they demonstrate a variety of styles in music. Patsy Cline was an iconic female country singer that won awards at the Deejay Convention, won Billboard’s “Most Promising Country & Western Female Artist,” and Music Vendor’s “Greatest Achievement in Records” all just for “Walking After Midnight” (Jones, 1994, p. 159). “Walkin’ After Midnight” music was written by Alan Block and the lyrics were written by Don Hecht ("Walkin' After Midnight." Second Hand Songs - A Cover Songs Database.).…

I chose the song "Break Up In A Small Town" because it accurately describes my life. About 6 months ago, my boyfriend and I broke up. Once we broke up I started talking to one of his friends, but not out of spite. We seemed very compatible and liked each other very much. I actually started listening to this song during the mess, and told everyone that the song described my life perfectly.…

The song I chose is “Surfin’ U.S.A.”, is characterized by the Beach Boys. I chose this song because of how laid back the tune sounds and makes me want to relax. It’s relaxing because the song reminds me of the beach and the sounds of the waves. In the song it talks about how they will be gone for the summer and to tell the teacher they have gone surfing. The summer always reminds me of the beach and all the surfers in the water.…

A song I have really engaged with is ‘Savages’ by Marina and the Diamonds. The song raises the question of whether the vicious tendencies in human nature are learnt, or if they are engrained in us. The song itself is quite direct in its lyrics and the tempo and beat of the song combine with this to give the full effect, and helps in making you think about what is really being said. One aspect of the song that made me think was when Marina sings “Were we born to abuse, shoot a gun, and run, or has something deep inside of us come undone?” I found this particular part of the song interesting as it poses the whole question of the song, and it really makes you stop and reflect on the tragic events happening in the world.…
