His words come slowly, and even hesitantly (with his words audibly coming across as such, and the translations of them being constantly filled with elipses and pauses). During duel chants and duels themselves he reacts just as minimally, even in combination with that stronger voice. His words are monotonous, and his expression almost permanently wide-eyed and blank. During a duel, very little if anything seems to phase him either--a likely product of constant training in LDS, along with the expectations of his mother and brother. Outside a duel, he's simply quiet; he scarcely vocalizes beyond short sounds (such as when he gestured to the collapsing Solid Vision Wall during Yuuya's duel against Security), restricting himself to stares and cries of alarm; the most he asks during this particular moment in fact is 'where's my brother?', and to even claim he utilizes gestures ordinarily would be somewhat false. Beyond his point toward the wall after all, he made no such …show more content…
In both of the prior examples, Reiji is with him, albeit sitting and minding his own business. When he appears in Synchro without him however, his first instinct is to run from what danger appears, crying aloud in terror. His responses to when Yuuya (who of course is present) attempts to comfort him, are minimal at best. Yuuya's entertainment techniques are met with confusion and uncertainity, and while he obeys the other's request to 'hold tight' (with them riding on Yuuya's hippo in that moment), it is evident that Yuuya does not succeed in calming Reira down more than a fraction. While the boy clings to him in fear during those moments, and does indeed remain relatively close sometime after, he withdraws as soon as the danger has passed, again holding his bear close and his mouth shut. His comfort levels around Yuuya are thus truly 'minimal', even if it is a clear difference between the teen and the remaining people around--Reira still needs a nudge to be pulled to attention (Though this is more connected to his habit of staring off in thought), and still remains mostly silent in the other's presence when outside a moment of panic. He simply happens to tolerate more of that 'presence', and, perhaps, now carry awareness that Yuuya at least is someone he can hide behind if danger comes
