I have taken leadership in comprehensive program reviews and revisions at three institutions. While at Olivet Nazarene University (ONU), I served as an active member of several program review committees charged with evaluating the effectiveness of various degree programs, and led the review of one high profile program. I worked closely with the Associate Provost to revise the academic program review process at Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) to incorporate assessment reports and data in the review process. Chipotle Bowl Thesis

I am searching for a campus of brash, tenacious peers who will not set down their sole burrito bowls in defeat, but peers who will eat two, three—as many as humanly possible in the name of Chipotle—and challenge me as well! These are not students who listlessly prod at the same meal every day. Instead, they toss in unthinkable ingredients to create a fresh, unique twist, savoring each tiny bite of their education. Determination, persistence, innovation—these are all values I wish to contribute to UChicago’s student body. To immerse one’s self in intellectual vitality and pursue the “life of the mind” is similar to appreciating Chipotle for its magnanimous beauty…to learn, to enlighten rather than to capitalize is a unique tenet of UChicago that I can find nowhere else.…

My Practicum project underwent four major phases, as promised in the proposal; Research, curriculum creation, workshop construction, and workshop implementation. Phase one focused on research. This phase consisted of compiling possible resources, theories, and practices which could prove helpful in later phases. This also entailed the gathering of data through a survey to determine what fuels conflict within the community college system and what characterizes those conflict situations. This survey data aided me in creating themes and determining the basic direction for the project.…

Collaboration is more than an activity. It is a process with associated behaviors that can be taught and developed—a process governed by a set of norms that maximize individual contribution while leveraging the collective intellect of everyone involved. Collaboration is working toward a common goal or shared vision. The work is both individual and collective. Individuals want to be part of their organization; they want to know the organization’s purpose; they want to make a difference (Fullan, 2011).…

Since DACA has been passed, administration at colleges and universities have had differing approaches on how to support, or not, undocumented students attending their institution. However, there are still holes in the support for undocumented students in pursuing higher education. Workplace Collaboration “The world has become much more interconnected, and if executives don’t know how to tap into the power of those connections, they’ll be left behind” (Ibarra & Hansen, 2011). Many business owners and managers are finding it increasingly important to direct their focus on their employee collaboration and establish an example of great collaboration. Collaboration should not be developed from middle level management, but should begin with top level management to set the tone. In order for top level managers to be collaborative leaders, they must obtain “strong skills in four areas: playing the role of connector, attracting diverse talent, modeling collaboration at the top, and showing a strong hand to keep teams from…

Reflection The competency that I have excelled in is collaboration. If I were to define collaboration in my own words then, it would be a way to combine ideas and efforts with the group/person you are working with to achieve a common goal. So, to collaborate well means you have to work effectively with others, something I have demonstrated while working on the PSA. The way I displayed this competency was in the way we asked others to be actors in our commercial, such as how we used Zena Rawlins, in our Scapegoat video.…
