The health care field has a wide variety of jobs in hospitals. Registered nurses and patient care technicians are a few of the vital staff members who assist in the quality care for the patients. They work together as a team which makes them proficient in the care given. There are similarities between these two jobs, but they also have different duties which each play a role to complete the patient’s necessities. Registered nurses are required to complete a two or four-year degree program which they will then receive a state license. They work under the order of the physicians. Some of their duties will include giving medications prescribed by the patient’s physician, providing treatments, such as wound care and monitoring medical equipment, such as intravenous pumps. Registered nurses and patient care technicians take the patient’s vitals including temperature, blood pressure, oxygen rate and pulse. They help with transferring patients, which can include a one or two person assists. When a patient presses their call bell, which is to call for assistance, it’s required for the nurse or the patient care tech to answer it promptly. If a patient would need CPR, both the nurse and the patient care tech are the ones who would assist and respond first. These types of jobs are hands on to provide the best quality of care for every patient. Registered nurses and patient care technicians work hand in hand together, and both jobs complete all duties required for the patients. Their duties correspond to successfully complete the care they give. When registered nurses fulfill their responsibilities, the patient care techs will complete anything else that is necessary for the patient.
