There are many registered nurses (RNs) seeking to expand their career in the medical field. They desire to find more advanced way to provide medical care to patients. This is being accomplished by advancing their education on a graduate level. RNs are entering programs to become advanced practice nurses (APNs). There are several different APN areas an individual may elect to practice. Some of these consist certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA), certified nurse midwife CNM), certified nurse specialist (CNS) or a certified nurse practitioner (CNP). These different types of APN positions each has their own specific requirements. Some of these requirements are based upon the state in which an APN practices. APNs must complete graduate levels courses and a designated amount of core competencies. These requirements are …show more content…
They are allowed to administer orders and perform procedures on patients. NPs are capable of providing medical treat to infants, adolescents, adults, and the increasing number of geriatric population in our society. There are specific core competencies NPs must complete during their graduate level education. They provide a foundation for NPs to provide quality care in a safe manner. Their accreditation permits them to provide medical services to children, teens, adults, and geriatric patients. The roles of NPs are extremely essential in helping with the overload physicians are experiencing with the patients. They are able to provide proper, adequate and safe care to patients. This paper will examine the APN scope of practice, personal assessment, networking and marketing strategies, along with my curriculum vitae.

All healthcare professions must practice within their allotted scope of practice. The scope of practice for these APNs varies depending upon the specialty and the state. There are certain guidelines that must be adhered be by all
