Experts believe that the three most main outlooks for regional war is ethical and religious tension, lack of resources and political corruption. Ethical and religious tensions are probably the biggest obstacle for the Yugoslavian republics. Kosovo for example is predominantly populated with Sunni Muslim Albanians while the other six countries are made up of mostly the Slavic population who like many speak similar languages and are orthodox Christians and Roman Catholics. Unlike Kosovo, which has significant coal and mineral deposits, the region is unfortunately lacking natural resources. Unemployment has become a huge chronic problem, with levels as high as 50 percent. Albania and seven other countries in a region with 26 million inhabitants have been plagued by conflict largely stemming from its mix of religious and ethnic population.
