Reggio Emilia is not a method. You don't have to be trained to teach Reggio Emilia to students but it is unique.
It is believed that Reggio-inspired schools should not look the same, therefore the needs and interests of the children should be included as each child has different interests and needs at different times or can be similar at the same time. There is a high focus on social collaboration, working within groups, where each child participates the same, equality as having the children's thoughts and questions appreciated. The adults are not the people of knowledge. Children seek out the knowledge through their own investigations.
Children have a way of processing, a way of finding things, asking questions and using language as play. Using sounds, rhythm and rhyme, playing with these types of communication.
Children are motivated to use language to investigate and explore, to remember their experiences. They are heard, respected, believing that their questions and observations are important and give the ability to learn and search together. It's a process, that's continual. A collaborative process. Instead of the child asking a question and the teacher providing the answers, the teacher and student search together.
