More often than not the ones that suffer from mental health issues such as depression and Post -traumatic stress disorder, do not agree to participate in studies. Similar to other articles some subjects are unaccompanied children. Researchers found that it was difficult to work with the children because many feared deportation once they tuned eighteen years of age. Other times refugees did not want to participate because the studied would bring up past events that they did not want to relive. (Watters). Many researchers want to study the mental health of refugees but the traumatic event they have seen and endured may prevent them from evaluating and diagnosing them.
