Namrata always greets to students using their first name and making eye contact with them when they are talking to her. The only adjustment I would make is to find a way for them to come to their appointment on time because they come in late sometimes. I would also make sure that I speak clearly so they can understand the care being given. When some of the students are praying, I would step outside and give them privacy to pray. They are looking for full time coordinator volunteer to help students and Scott …show more content…
Sometimes the students would bring food from home and they would ask me to eat with them. That is how things are done in some countries and it remembers me of my hometown. The most challenging part was that some of the students understand only a little bit of English and it was difficult to communicate with them. When they have questions about something, it takes a while to finally understand what they are saying. Sometimes pronouncing word is difficult and other times they cannot communicate what they need. If this were to happen again, my response would be different because I would get a translator to translate his need. I learned that English is very hard language to learn and it will take time before they start to get used to things. I also learned that they are in a new country and everything is new to them, they are probably frightened and they would not want to talk. I think I learned more about my challenging experience because even though they cannot understand the language, they still show up every day. I see the same group of students every day when I go there. I admired their determination and willing to learn
