My mom on the other hand saw the importance of schooling which lead me to my third school in by the fifth grade, I attended a smaller catholic school with children from middle class families. Although my mom placed me into a good school, I don’t think she realized that I didn’t really know how to learn, although she read to me and my brother when we were younger and often questioned us allowing us to think beyond our years learning in school was not something that I was very good at. After my mom was unable to finish her treatment she fell into a depression of sorts and her days still consisted of a lot of sleeping and disconnect. Around this time, I had entered in to the sixth grade where the school had low funding and even lower expectations for all of the kids who attended. At this point my mom had been out of work for a couple of years and there was no other income into the house, other than the maybe child support that we might receive from my birthfather.…

Life is simply perspective. Some say that you have your whole life to do something, while others will argue that life is short and you should enjoy it to the full extent of it’s worth. You can look at something as exquisite, or atrocious. It doesn’t change what it is, but it changes your reaction to it. No matter how sure you are about the morality, someone else could view it differently.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

I knew from a young age that I wanted to eventually have a career which positively impacted the individual. When I was six years old, I wanted to be a window washer so I could give people the joy of being able to look outside. When I was in high school, I wanted to be a speech-language pathologist in order to help people exercise their right to speak. I have always observed that I am not the type of person who functions well in an inactive environment. I learn best by doing, and I cannot sit still and watch someone else do it for me.…

Middle School Mid-Life Crisis Middle school, a time of cringe worthy moments and regret. I like to refer to this story as my “Middle School Mid-Life Crisis”, since I questioned the purpose of going to school almost every day, and never felt motivated to do anything. Dreading almost every day of school, not having stable mental, emotional, or physical health, and feeling dissatisfied with myself as a student. My mind set was always on countdown mode, “I just have to make it through this class period. I only have 20 more problems to do.”…
