I have had several experiences in my life that have influenced my academic work and goals at
Colorado Christian University, however the most significant one would have to be my daughter’s high school graduation.Having my daughter my junior year of high school was a very humbling experience in its own right. Most people would look at it as a brick wall, preventing you from obtaining the goals you’ve set for yourself or reaching that level of “success” that we all strive for. I, on the other hand, used her birth as motivation. I used the fact that I now have a little person depending on me to provide, protect, nourish and love her for the rest of her life, so I did not let it stop me.

During this time, I also had time to reflect on myself and my current situation. Here I was, I’d sacrificed 18 years, working a job that I did not like, in order to allow my daughter to have all that she dreamed of, but now what? What do I do with my life now?
That is when I made the decision to go back to school. CCU was not my first choice however. I initially enrolled in WGU (Western Governors’ University) because they actually offered an online nursing program, which was ideal. I attended one semester there and realized that was not the place for me. I then began researching other universities and came across CCU. Finding a university that encourages students to follow Christ was what first caught my eye, followed by the fact that they offered nursing. I immediately applied to the university and was accepted, only to find out that in order to major in nursing, I actually had to reside in Colorado. I did not allow that to deter me however. I’d already had my mind made up after much prayer, that if I was not able to pursue nursing, I would complete
