Reflectively Direct Your Attention Essay

Throughout the assignment I have came about to learn that trying to selectively direct your attention onto one subject is hard. In the demonstration I tried putting the subjects into different place being the right, left or middle and changed the people who were together which tripped me up at times. For example when I put the two little girls together then had a guy it was easier to focus on the guy because the girls tones were so much different from the guys. But at the same time when you put all of the guys voices together it's harder to focus in on one of the guys tones of voice. Attention allows us to focus in on a certain stimulus, and process what's being said or done
The demonstration allowed you to test attention by giving different stimuli occurring at the same time while having you focus on one number. Selective attention deals with having interest in a certain stimulus while ignoring other stimulus. This is what happened in this assignment this may have been done depending on the person. The book explained how in a party there may be music which is very noisy but at the same time you are speaking to someone with people in the background are speaking too. If we were to relate to this personally that's a good example I thought of it with playing video games when you were a younger age. When I was younger I would play video games while my parents yelled for me to do things which forced me to divide my attention to them, and video games or if I was interested I focused on what my brothers were doing.
