Reflective Writing Project 2

Improved Essays
I am writing my reflective cover letter in response to writing project two. As I start to writing this reflective paper I notice that I have grown a bit in writing. Writing have never been my strong side because there are many things to consider when you write. Such as grammar, context and what form of tense are you talking in. When I write, I do make sure to stay within the form of tense that I am using then I’ll go back and fix any grammar or misspelling that I did not catch the first round. What I like to do first is free write my thoughts about a topic or idea on paper first because sometimes it is hard for me to write what I want to write into context. After the free write I would go back and make a sense out of it to make sure it sounds …show more content…
After receiving writing project two, it was a bit complicated for me to write about how can the bonds that he forms can help him grow and mature or why is it important and necessary. When I thought of something and free write it, I find it hard for myself to exactly put what I want to write in a form that would make sense with my paper. I couldn’t get my thought across if I try to make it sound good and not just a free write. I often thought, “what if my professor doesn’t get or did I answer her question write about this area?” As I was revising writing two, I put a lot of thoughts down and try to answer in a way that makes sense to the feedback that was given. It truly made me think about the whole paper as I was rewriting and fixing the paper as I was reading back what I previously wrote for feedback. At some point, I went back to look at project writing one and how I wrote it. I can tell that what I wrote here and there did not sound the same and I somehow felt writing two sounds weird. After rereading and rewriting what I want to explain, I made sure it makes sense and connects. The feedback was an eye opener to what I missed to include and to make sure the reader understands what I meant to say. It also made sure that I, as the writer understood what I wrote and how it can make me to become a better writer as I think about these …show more content…
I loved the feedback section because this is how I can improve as a writer. I use to think that the more marks that I get was because I was not a good writer, however, seeing these feedbacks helped me write a better paper. Although, I don’t think that project writing two is at a full potential, I did the best of what I can do. In writing these project, I can see that I need more improvement however, improving little by little is better than not improving at all. I figure for myself, writing will always be a challenge that I need to work on nevertheless, it is not something I hate because writing can be creative in many different ways and it can be as fun, sad and adventuress to anyone who choose to

Exercising My Writing Skills Writing is evolving by the day in the English language, in other words communication is evolving on the daily since writing is our main source of communication. Learning how to write the English language in an academic setting has been one of my greatest accomplishments as a scholar, despite the fact that, I am still learning new skills daily on how to improve my writing. Even though, I am not the best the writer, I have gained enough strength in my writing to separate me from the average writer. In other words, the best way to improve on something is by practicing, and that is a lesson writing papers has taught me. One of my greatest skills as a writer in my opinion is being able to expand on a topic.…

In the quote from Writing Without Teachers, Peter Elbow talks about his ideas on the process of writing. He says, “think of writing as an organic, developmental process in which you start writing at the very beginning – before you know your meaning at all – and encourage your words gradually to change and evolve” (Elbow). Elbow believes that you can’t know what you are going to discuss or to comment on until you are done writing and all of your thoughts finally come together to make sense. He also goes against the idea that writing is only a two-step process, saying that this is the wrong method to go about writing and is a backwards way of thinking. I agree with Elbow’s ideas because this is how I think about the writing process, and is how I write most of the time.…

I immediately jumped onto the computer to view your comments and feedback. A few items that stood out in your feedback to me were my topic sentences weren’t as strong as they could be; I had some grammatical errors with my commas verses semi colons and with fragmented sentences. I spent my next few essays improving these items. When you were generous and offered us the option to improve one of our assignments I jumped at the chance to prove to myself that I could improve my essay and as a bonus I was able to finally achieve the A grade I wanted. Looking back at the changes in my writing style and the expansion of my knowledge on the different types of writing while taking your class has improved my skills and I find myself enjoying the writing process from beginning to end albeit only in your class, and only when I have an assignment due.…

My mind feels like a 1000 piece puzzle missing a piece. I can’t simply find the right words to say to start this paper. It is always like this when freewriting; the idea of freewriting in and of itself frightens me. Never able to put the words in my head onto paper in a way that it can be read eloquently by others. My hands start to cramp automatically at the idea of freewriting.…

Everyone hates English class is what I thought before taking English 102. However, that may have been the case before I entered Dr. Byrd’s domain, but after finishing the class I have come to the realization that English class can be greatly resourceful. English 102 this year has had its ups and downs, and I must admit the ups outweigh the downs. Meaning, this year, I have learned that I am not a student who wants to read or write, but through reading and writing my mind and skill sets concerning English have grown. During English 102 this year, reading and writing in class helped me expand my writing skills, improved my will to comprehend, and most importantly helped expand my knowledge.…

To be completely honest I have mixed feelings about writing and I don’t really have any memorable experiences that made me feel this way, it is just the experiences that I have had with the subject while trying to apply it. I struggle with what to write down mostly and creativity in general and I don’t really excel at any part of it. If I were to say I “excel” at anything it would be revising my work and adding to it. At the end of the semester I hope that I have relearned some key writing elements that lack of practice has caused me to lose.…

Throughout this semester of English 101, writing has become more of a skill than a struggle. Writing was a challenge that I dreaded when I chose to be in the course, nonetheless with time, I learned from my mistakes and was able to improve. This course made me very doubtful on whether I could be capable of even writing a paper that would provide me with a decent grade, but at the same time made me push myself in my writing technique. In the end, I can reflect that I learned from my mistakes and wrote papers that took time and dedication to accomplish. I learned from this class to be confident in my writing and make all the mistakes to receive the grade I want in the end.…

Over the course of this semester I learned a handful of things about myself as a writer, that will help me develop as a more proficient writer over the course of my four years here. As a writer one of my strengths is backing up my argument with solid and concrete evidence that truly makes the reader believe what they are reading. Another area of my writing that I excel in is being able to process great ideas that follow the guidelines and the prompt. With that being said I have also seen that while the ideas may come with ease, I do have a challenging time with getting the ideas from my head onto paper in a manner that isn’t so disorganized that it makes the reader second guess themselves. Another shaky part of my writing comes much before the actual forming of sentences.…
