When answering the question about if the educational process includes both growth of learner as well as the teacher. It is in this author’s opinion that the educational process yields growth in both instructor as well as the student. There have been a few different articles that this learner has found to back up this statement. This learner will describe what Bastable (2008) describes as the educational process, learning styles and the utilization of data to show how collaborative teaching and peer mentoring can enhance the growth of both student as well as instructor.

As health care professionals nurses continuously assess a patient’s current knowledge base of health-related behaviors. However, patients tend to have numerous health care providers during their hospitalization. While no two instructors or nurses teach with the same learning style or in the same exact format. Literature suggest that there are increased benefits of utilization of an interdisciplinary team with education. This not only enhances the student or patients understanding of the condition since multiple styles are being used, but it also can assist the educator to improve their current teaching style to encompass additional ideas that might enhance their personal knowledge of the health-related behavior. In one study, (lester & Evans) utilized collaborative teaching, in which one study had team teachers who presented the same content. During the evaluation the instructors discussed the benefits of co-facilitation. Assisting others to understand concepts that might be foreign to their current practice. A study that was conducted with senior nursing students in 17 critical reflections provided the students to be peer mentors to first year nursing students. At the end of the study the mentors expressed their growth as a leaders and professionals. The mentors continued to report during the study that they were able to develop awareness, and integrate teaching aspects into their professional practice.
