After taking the LCI, I've determined I am a "Strong Willed Learner." This means that I use three or more of my patterns at the Use First level. The report states that "I prefer to work alone so that I can control the plan, the ideas, the talk, the decisions, the process and the outcomes." I can see this is my daily routines. I am a prek teacher and with it, I like to do things "my way". I have an assistant and I take in her thoughts and opinions about a certain topic, but I feel I know how each and every child learns so I make her ideas fit their learning style. I like to do things fast-paces and it is difficult at times for my assistant to keep up. After reading about the way I learn and finding out the kind of learner I am, I find it satisfying to know that I might clash with others while finishing a project, assignment, or even just daily planning just by how we learn. Therefore, since I now have a reason for it, I can fix it before it gets out of control.

My scores for the LCI are as follows:

I find this spot on. "I want time to do my work neatly". I do not like to be rushed into finishing a project or assignment. If I know I have a deadline, I start working on it immediately to avoid turning it in late. For example, I see that we have an assignment for school due on Thursday. I also see the list of tasks we are asked to complete on this specific day. I went ahead and started on what I thought would be the most time consuming on a different day. Once I felt that was done and out of the way, I could spend more time on my discussions. I like to put thought and detail in my work and double check to make sure I've touched on every task. I like to make sure everything is well

One area that I believe I was successful in was in regards to competency 3.3, 3.8 and 3.12. While caring for a client who had been experiencing chest pain prior to me coming on shift, I ensured that I spoke with my nurse about the changes to expect and how to respond if the changes should arise during my care. I also made sure to take frequent vital signs and use subjective questioning to determine any changes in the status of my client. This allowed me to skillfully implement appropriate nursing care and prepare myself for a situation that could potentially change rather quickly. One area that I have been working on and would like to improve upon is developing mini DM assignments with each client that I take into my care.…
